Headquartered in Hanover VA, Sustainable Building Elements is a licensed Class A Contractor focused on energy conservation work across Virginia. Our firm specializes in all energy conservation matters, from the drawing board to the finished product. Whether you’re a home owner, builder, or property owner, we will not only identify energy cost saving strategies, but we’ll also help you implement those recommendations. We bring extensive experience and professionalism to every customer and customize our support to your individual needs and concerns.
Richard has over a decade of energy efficiency and conservation industry experience. Richard served as an adjunct professor for the Virginia Weatherization Training Center where he provided energy assessment training and BPI proctoring services to workforce development programs of the Virginia community college network. He served as a consultant for the Virginia Department of Housing and Community Development, to provide training services at code official update sessions for the Virginia energy code. He was a mentor for veterans training to become energy auditors through the Sierra Club’s Veterans for Green Jobs pilot program in northern Virginia. He also worked as the technical advisor for the development of a home performance program for the George Washington Regional Commission located in Fredericksburg VA. Richard is a certified HERS Rater, BPI Quality Control Inspector and is a licensed Residential Building Energy Advisor in the Commonwealth of Virginia.
When Bowman came on board he quickly became the glue to the SBE team. Bowman manages our field operations and is responsible for on site client communications and quality control. In the short time he's been with us he has managed the implementation of over 4000 apartment energy efficiency up-fits.
Bowman is also the director of a non-profit organization focused on nurturing artists by providing platforms to facilitate and support creativity, education, safety, and public events. Follow the link to Party Liberation Front to learn more about this amazing artist community.
Grant has been an integral member of the SBE team since 2016 bringing with him a passion for sustainability. Grant has been responsible for implementing a home performance testing contract for one of the largest builders in the metro Richmond area. He holds a Rating Field Inspector (RFI) certification from RESNET and is our lead advisor for utility grant programs.
